La TVR, la televisión nacional rumana, ha desvelado las fechas de las semifinales de su preselección, así como las ciudades donde serán celebradas. Sesenta artistas competirán en cinco galas diferentes luchando por ser el abanderado de Rumanía en el Festival de Eurovisión y estarán distribuidos de la siguiente manera:

Un total de 15 artistas llegarán a la gala final, que se celebrará el día 25 de febrero, por lo que sólo 3 sobrevivirán a su semifinal correspondiente. La TVR también anunció hoy que el tema de Freia, «Fix me», ha quedado descalificado por haberse lanzado antes del 1 de septiembre de 2017.
El año pasado, la canción «Yodel It», en voz de Ilinca & Alex Florea quedaba en 7ª posición representando a Rumanía en Eurovisión.
